Critique Me:

This is a picture I took awhile ago, while on a photo walk for class in the student parking lot. I guess it turned out alright. What do you think?

Today we are starting a new surrealism project, in class we are beginning to take notes on it. It seems like it can be a very interesting project and a lot of fun to work on. We're learning about Emmanuel Radnitzky and his work in the Dada movement in New York, and Paris. I think he is very interesting too.

Graduation

I chose this picture because I think it turned out great. This was taken last spring at my sisters graduation. I love the shadows of each chair, and how they all come out to a black blur. The red stands out the best, its filled with a lot of shadows which I like. I'd like to hear your thoughts

Stolen Spirits

I think it is perfectly fine to use someone else's art as an example, or to critique. As long as it is clearly stated who took this picture, drew this picture, etc. But i frown upon people who take others work and say its their own, that is not right in my eyes. If somebody took my work and acted like it was their own I would be upset so they cannot be blamed for feeling like that. 

Ethics of Editing

I can see why photoshoping images to add or removes things is right (Postal service smoking policy) but I do not agree with the way magazines and other organizations use it to make people look fake and un-natural. Sure some people use photoshop to enhance their pictures, touch up color, highlights, brightness and contrast. but I don't agree with removing some very important details to the pictures. 

Critique Me

I remember taking this picture at Mathers woods in Plainfield. This was taken while trying to take an HDR. This turned out very cool to me though, I like the deep shadows in there. Nothing in this was intentional, I'd love to hear your opinions. 

lighting

Lately I have been taking a lot of pictures of random objects in my room. Mostly with different lighting methods. I don't normally do this, I actually hate using flashes most of the time. I really like natural light. I have found that some things turn out a lot better than I expected, and it is definitely something i can look into more in the future.

Being new to this online blogging thing I find it very interesting. I have looked at a lot of people's pages. Some I knew, and some I didn't. I think this is a great was to share ideas, get advice or just simply show ones photography. It works much like flickr, but one thing I like more is being able to define my work, give captions on everything, tell why I took this or with what camera ect. 

Atiba Jefferson

I Like Atiba Jefferson the best because he started taking pictures the exact same way I did, shooting skateboarding. He has been around for awhile and his hard work definitely paid off, he has now moved up to shooting personal portraits for celebrities and professional athletes. I like how he mostly uses film still, and gives his photos some of the vintage worn looks.

Critique Me:

I took this picture and actually used it last year for Digital Photography 1. I took this on a trip around the school our class took in order to create yearbook covers. It was taken with a Canon AE-1 on 35mm film. I like the effect the 50mm lens gave, making 90% of the photo out of focus and basically only leaving the "White" letters in focus. This was probably my favorite photo i had taken at the time. I really like the way the color and highlights came out, without editing. I think the black really stands out as well. 

About Me

I started in art basically only enjoying drawing. I wasn't into painting or anything digital related. I started getting into video from skateboarding and I instantly loved it. I really got into editing skateboarding, filming was a lot of fun. I started taking pictures about two years ago, I started with film on an old canon 35mm AE-1. Later I decided to invest in a Canon Rebel. I really enjoy shooting in black and white 35mm film, that's probably my favorite. Lately i have been using 50mm lenses. I probably like taking nature or grunge pictures the most. I also enjoy action shots such as skateboarding. When it comes to photoshop, making pictures look more vintage is always fun, I sometimes add artificial smoke or brushes to my pictures.
